The Vampire Diaries has been one show that I haven’t given up on, despite its ups and downs. The first three seasons of this show were amazing, but it has definitely lost some of its magic along the way. I am still a loyal fan and have continued to watch it. This is why I was really upset by this news. I took to twitter to share my feelings and so did a lot of other fans. Both Elena and Nina Dobrev trended on Twitter after Nina Dobrev posted this on instagram. These are my slightly angry and very passionate tweets after I found this out:
Elena / Nina Dobrev are trending because this is going to make this show go downhill more. The Originals just needs to absorb its characters — Dana (@danasquare) April 7, 2015
@loriagoldstein @crys_leach I just need them to merge tvd and the originals for klaroline — Dana (@danasquare) April 7, 2015
@crys_leach @loriagoldstein I would rather the show end now then continue on without her it would be like Buffy with out Buffy — Dana (@danasquare) April 7, 2015

Guess Katherine is really dead on TVD. I have been holding out hope for her return! I will miss her most — Dana (@danasquare) April 7, 2015
So Nina Dobrev is leaving TVD? There is no show then… — Dana (@danasquare) April 7, 2015

Other fans I follow:
@AboutToRead I think the most painful part is that they’re going to try to continue it without her! That’s ridiculous. — Meredith Moore (@writermeredith) April 7, 2015
Nina Dobrev is leaving Vampire Diaries?! I know Elena got annoying over the years but it will hardly seem like the same show w/o her. — Morgan Manning (@morganameridius) April 7, 2015
Just saying, TVD is only TVD if Elena is on the show. None of the books feature a world without her. — Queen of Books (@IveyAlanaWaters) April 7, 2015

Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries. In other news, who’s even going to bother watching season 7 now? If season 7 even still happens? — Meredith (@Gryphongirl2007) April 7, 2015
What does this mean for The Vampire Diaries?
Season seven has already been picked up by The CW and the rest of the main characters, besides Steven R. McQueen, are set to be in it. Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy, had announced that he would no longer have a reoccurring role on the show earlier in the season.
The way I see it, they have two options for Elena. Either they kill her off or she receives the cure, that has just “magically” reappeared. Then she might go off somewhere to live a happy normal human life with Jeremy, her brother.

Season seven may very well just be an epilogue for the other characters, who don’t end up going to The Originals. Or they may try and keep things going without Elena. Many people are speculating a Damon and Bonnie romance, which I personally am not a fan of.
I have read the first seven Vampire Diaries books and Elena was always the main character. How can a TV show survive without its main character? For those of you who aren’t fans of The Vampire Diaries, this is equivalent to killing off Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead or Buffy Summers from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The show is about Elena falling in love with the Salvatore brothers and the implications that had on her life.
Will they move our favorite Vampire Diaries characters to The Originals?
I sure hope so. First, we need a Caroline and Klaus reunion. We already saw that Stefan and Damon had great character chemistry with the original vampires. The Originals has been great so far compared to the recent seasons of The Vampire Diaries and it would be an easy transition.
Nina Dobrev has an amazing career ahead of her and I know she will do great things. It just hurts as a huge fan of this show that the main character will be leaving. The end of season 6 is quickly approaching and I will have to say goodbye to one of my favorite characters. I am still not quite sure if I will be watching season seven.
Take Our PollI’ll just be here ugly crying…
