Will Smith is back as a con-artist and mastermind in the first official trailer for Focus, an upcoming thriller co-directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love. and I Love You Phillip Morris). Starring Margot Robbie, Rodrigo Santoro, BD Wong, Gerald McRaney, Robert Taylor and Adrian Martinez, the film tells the story of Nicky (Smith), a conman who meets an up-and-coming grifter named Jess (Margot Robbie). While teaching her the ropes of the business, things start to get a little out of hand.
Focus has been under production for a while now. At first it even had Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as the original con-team. Later, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart were also attached to the project. But from the trailer we can see that Smith and Robbie are a good pair onscreen and for that… both good casting choices. This will mark the return of Smith as a lead after 2013’s After Earth, and also to an R-rated film. Is this good or bad? You be the judge after watching the trailer below.
