Spike Jonze is back and probably with now my most anticipated movie of Fall! Today, the first trailer was released for Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Scarlett Johansson and more. Phoenix plays a lonely man living in a slightly futuristic L.A. ,who purchases an artificially intelligent operating system, voiced by Johansson. In true Spike Jonze fashion, Phoenix falls in love with the A.I. operating system. Watch a peek at this touching, odd ball romance in the trailer below:
I didn’t know much about this project until now. Jonze’s last work was the wonderful Where The Wild Things Are, and I was looking forward to see what he would tackle next. Her looks simply exquisite, and with a cast like that, I’m ready to pre-order tickets for three showings. It’s great to see Phoenix and Adams reunite, albeit differently than The Master. Phoenix once again looks like he’s at the top of his game; I just love seeing him in roles like this one.
Another exciting thing about Her is that Arcade Fire is composing the score! Most know Arcade Fire recorded a version of Wake Up! specifically for Where the Wild Things Are; I believe Jonze directed a video for the band as well. Clearly, they make a good time and can’t wait to see what they accomplish with Her.
Her hits select theaters on November 20, 2013.
