Wrecked Season 3 Finale Review: The Odds Were in Their Favor

The Shipley Brothers might have just written their best season of Wrecked to date. The third season left the plane crash survivors to fight for their lives as a psycho rich British man named Declan forced them to play Hunger Games.

After episodes of the gang fighting with each other and just trying to survive, Jess is able to break into the power source and turn off the island, freeing everyone from the shock bracelets Declan placed them in. It’s in that moment all hell breaks loose. After being apart for most of the season, Pack, Todd, Jess, Owen, Danny, Florence, and Karen are back together again and ready to get themselves out of the hell the universe has placed them in.

Since the team is no longer attempting to kill each other, Declan decides to hunt them down himself with his three other rich buddies. When one of Declan’s men has Danny, Owen, and Florence literally on death’s edge, presumed-to-be-dead Steve pushes the crony over the mountainside, saving their lives.

They all barricade themselves in Declan’s house where they find the only radio has a massive sword through it. While it seems like the end is near, they decide after everything they’ve been through they’re not ready to lay down and die. With the expertise of Danny, they booby trap the house and take on the rich murderers.

In a sequence of unique ways to kill someone, Danny and Owen accidentally kill one of the rich friends after he trips on marbles, Todd sets one of the cronies on fire who then falls through the window, Florence steals one of the machine guns shooting another rich guy in the head, and then Karen rescues Pack by shooting a bow and arrow through the third friend’s heart.

In the end, the Shipley Brothers give Declan the most unique death of all: a chess piece to the eye. Yes. While being Declan’s hostage, Steve takes the chess piece he’s been holding onto the whole season and stabs Declan in the eye, blinding him, and sending him over the balcony edge.

But of course the madness of the season finale doesn’t stop there. While the crew tries to leave in Declan’s chopper, they see Chet flying off the island, stranding them there forever. Or so they think.

What appears to be months later, Owen and Danny are attempting to get a signal through the busted-up radio. As they’re about to give up someone answers Owen asking if anyone is there. Before it fades to black Owen says, “We’re here.”

So this leaves us with one major question we have at the end of every Wrecked season finale: does this mean we’ll get another season? If so, will this one finally reunite the survivors with their families again? I guess only time and the Shipley Brothers will tell.
