Earlier today, The CW unveiled their fall lineup, which included three new series: the reboot of Charmed, the latest Greg Berlanti-produced series, All American, and the spin-off of The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, titled Legacies.
The fall schedule was released and debuted a few changes. CW president Mark Pedowitz was excited about The CW’s expansion and their commitment to scripted television, which is also helping them to add more series to their network now that Sunday nights are open.
Interestingly enough, the Supernatural spin-off series, Wayward Sisters was not ordered for the 2018-2019 season. Pedowitz cites the show not being where it needed to be creatively as the reason for why it wasn’t picked up. Other new shows picked up were Roswell, New Mexico and In the Dark, but they won’t be premiering until midseason.
Here is what the schedule looks like for the fall:
- Supergirl will be moving from its Monday time slot to Sunday night at 8:00 pm and will be followed by the new Charmed reboot at 9:00 pm.
- Arrow will move from Thursday night to Monday night at 9:00 pm and Legends of Tomorrow will officially takeover the 8:00 pm time slot on Monday.
- The Flash and Black Lightning will remain on Tuesday night in their respective time slots.
- Legacies will follow Supernatural on Thursday night and air at 9:00 pm.
- Dynasty will move to Friday night at 8:00 pm and, while Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will remain on Friday, it will be moving to a new time slot at 9:00 pm.
While Jane the Virgin, iZombie, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will be back, their seasons have all been confirmed as being their last. Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman also confirmed that the series will “close things up” and not leave anything open-ended. She teased that there will also be a wedding at some point. Although, having ended season four with one of the biggest cliffhangers (spoiler alert: Jane’s dead husband is not-so-dead), it remains to be seen whose wedding it will be (prediction: Jane and Rafael). However, we’ll have to wait awhile to find out as both Jane the Virgin and iZombie won’t be premiering until midseason.
There were no trailers shown for Roswell, New Mexico, In the Dark, or Legacies.
All American, produced by Berlanti (who produces many of the network’s other shows, including Riverdale, the Arrowverse shows, and Black Lightning) stars Taye Diggs, Daniel Ezra, and Samantha Logan. The series will follow Ezra’s Spencer James as he moves from South LA to play football at Beverly Hills High after he’s recruited. You can watch the trailer for the new series here!
The Charmed reboot is being led by Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffrey, and Madeleine Mantock. Though the original cast has spoken up about not wanting a reboot of their show, the new series won’t be an exact copy. The story will follow three sisters, all of whom happen to be witches, as they discover their powers and come together to fight the supernatural. The show will be co-executive produced by Jane the Virgin showrunner, Jennie Snyder Urman. You can watch the trailer here!

Rounding out the CW announcements is the news that Batwoman, along with Gotham City, will officially be introduced into the Arrowverse during the yearly superhero crossover this fall. This year, however, the crossover will be taking place in early December instead of late November.
Arrow star Stephen Amell was there to deliver the news and here’s what he had to say:
“We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character. For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”
