Music News: Miranda Lambert Releases “Two of a Crime”

CDAJw7JUEAAY_2oMiranda Lambert isn’t one to rest on her laurels. Coming off of her three American Country Music Award wins (Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Platinum, and Song of the Year for “Automatic”), Lambert released the song “Two of a Crime” this morning for the upcoming film Hot Pursuit.

Hot Pursuit tells the story of straightlaced Officer Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) and her attempts to protect Daniella (Sofia Vergara), the widow of a drug lord, from her later husband’s enemies. From the trailer, the movie has echoes of the humor from movies like The Heat—frankly, until I looked into the plot, I thought this was another iteration of that same movie.

Miranda Lambert explained to Rolling Stone:

Reese texted me and told me about the movie and wanted me to write something or sing or both. I got inspired…It was a bit of a Thelma and Louise theme and that’s totally up my alley. It is really so fun to be part of it.

With heavy guitar riffs and lyrics that allude to some good old fashioned law breaking, “Two of a Crime” has all the makings of a classic Miranda tune.

Hot Pursuit debuts in theaters on May 8, 2015.

She enjoys going to concerts (anything from Rooney to Springsteen to NKOTBSB), roadtripping, and complaining that she truly belongs in the 1950’s, the 1920′s, or the 1980′s depending on her mood. She definitely owns more books than she should and reads every chance she gets. If you stop hearing from her, it’s because the book piles have fallen over and smothered her to death in the night.
