We reported that Emma Watson was cast in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming film, The Bling Ring, a couple months ago. Well, while at the Cannes Film Festival, the first official images of the film were unveiled. The pictures give us the first real look at the cast, who includes Taissa Farmiga, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang and Claire Pfister. It’s also said to have cameos from stars like Kirsten Dunst, Gavin Rossdale, and Paris Hilton. For those who don’t know, The Bling Ring is based off the true story of a group of teenagers who commit a string of celebrity burglaries. (You may have remembered hearing something about that in the news.) Here’s what Emma Watson had to say to Entertainment Weekly about preparing for the role:

To prepare for writer-director Sofia Coppola’s drama (release date TBD) about the real-life, fame-obsessed thieves who allegedly stole from the homes of celebs like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and The Hills’ Audrina Patridge, Emma Watson (center) turned to the best resource imaginable. ”I just watched a ton of reality TV,” she says. ”I was doing an English course [at Brown University]. So I would go from reading Virginia Woolf to [watching] Kim Kardashian. I kind of loved it, this mix of super-high and super-low culture. I think it was a nice balance.”

It definitely is a different look and role for Watson. And I gotta say that the cast photos look exactly how I expected them to be. What do you guys think? Sound off in the comments!
