Shane A. Bassett – Contributor
Born in Sydney Australia. Other than movies, I surf, ride a mountain bike and follow the West-Tigers football team in Rugby League. I once won $500 cash for doing air guitar on live TV to the Van Halen classic Jump! My personal best films vary but while writing this I love ‘Seven’, The Breakfast Club’, ‘Escape from New York’ and ‘Clue’.
I was first published from about age 16 but I documented reviews of every movie I saw in journals giving them a rating out of 10. A movie obsession developed with a photographic memory of actors, directors, year of production, running time and useless trivia. I began getting published in local newspaper for a weekly movie page and has continued for over a decade.
I do Central Coast breakfast Radio reviews on a weekly basis. I am a guest at the Australian version of Comic-Con known as Supanova, I have all access to meet visiting pop culture guests. I’m also a freelance reporter for a variety of magazines and occasional guest of television show The Movie Club. In addition, I’m a regular reporter for red carpets and press junkets for visiting talent promoting everything from blockbusters to indie films. Some of the coolest interviews I’ve ever done in no particular order were with Robin Williams, Rosamund Pike, Jodie Foster, Russell Brand, Whoopie Goldberg, Eric Roberts, Steve Carell, Quentin Tarantino and Anne Hathaway. I have so many stories I could write a book about the things I have seen on red carpets, green rooms and in the movie media world.
I once worked at Fox Studios Australia as a tour guide and marketing expert, I managed to walk through the sound stages of films in production such as Moulin Rouge, Star Wars Attack of the Clones, Matrix Reloaded, Son of The Mask and Kangaroo Jack – among others. I learnt how to do film projection in the local cinema when I was young and once sliced in a few seconds of a crude scene from ‘Stuck on You’ in the middle of a really important bit at the end of ‘Million Dollar Baby’. A few complaints, I was young and thought it was funny. Sorry.
I respect Gaby and the crew from theyoungfolks.com – a variety of opinions is important, I love their site and it’s an honor to contribute.

Aside of being young at heart, I’m daughter, wife, mom, friend, journalist, producer, programmer, editor, occasional voice over, etc.. and yes in this order.
I’m Brazilian, originally from Sao Paulo and I moved to the US almost 14 years ago to pursue my masters degree in Broadcast Communication. I love all forms of artist manifestations especially movies and music! #movielover. My addictions are brigadeiro (it’s a unique Brazilian chocolate fudge), dulce de leche, caramel macchiato…
So here at The Young Folks will be “broadcasting”/ sharing some of my interviews of upcoming movies, new releases on DVD and much more.
